In connection to the partnership agreement be-tween NRW and Ghana signed in November 2007, leaders of diverse Ghanaian Unions and Association, private entrepreneurs, doctors and other Ghanaians who were successfully living and working the North Rhine Westfalia (about 30 men and women), were invited on 17.12.2007 by the then Ministry of Generation, Families, Women and Integration (MGFFI) to a work-shop. The aim of the workshop was to discuss on the partnership agreement. The workshop ended with a decision to form an Umbrella Organization which will be responsible for the networking of Ghanaians and their Associations, Unions, Churches etc. in NRW. The participants of the workshop met several times thereafter and in the end, a constitution was drafted and an Executive Board was elected to run the Organization. Since 01.07.2009 the Council is a member of the One World Forum and is currently operating under the State Chancellery of NRW and is being managed by the Engagement Global NRW gGmbH.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Ghana Council NRW e.V is an umbrella organization of the Ghanaian associations, associations, religious institutions, business people, self-help organization and individuals for Ghanaians in NRW.
